Nylon
is the generic name for all long-chain polyamides that have recurring amide
groups as an integral part of the main polymer chain. Nylon molding powders
can be converted to use by injection molding, extrusion, and blow molding.
Nylon is available in many grades, including glass-fiber-filled,
and in a broad range of molecular weights, suitable for injection molding,
extrusion, blow molding and rotational molding. The addition of fibers and
fillers increases such properties as strength, stiffness, and decreasing
moisture pickup.
A large number of applications Nylon is used for include:
automotive parts, carpet, bike parts, kitchen items, sports equipment, and
tool housings.
